Today we’re chatting with Bobby Tindel, Manager of Application Development and Litigation Support at Andrews Kurth LLP and Track Coordinator for the Enterprise 2.0 and Marketing Technologies tracks at ILTA ’09.
What excites you the most about ILTA ’09?
Having been a part of the planning process as sessions are concerned, I feel a great deal of pride in what we’ve put together. I honestly believe that the sessions are full of relevant and important topics that our attendees will find worthy of their time. Everyone speaks of the economy and how it has impacted all of us, and will probably impact the 09 conference, however I’m proud of the work we’ve put into this and I believe that it falls under the genre of “truly shining in the face of adversity”.
Is there a specific session that you’re looking forward to?
I’m very excited about the Mini-MBA Sessions. I believe that so many people regardless of their place in an IT structure would benefit from these sessions.
Please briefly tell us what we’ll experience in the tracks you’re coordinating.
The Ent 2.0 is new this year and will focus heavily on the social networking tools that are beginning to invade all areas of our lives. They are no longer just a personal communication tool, but are becoming preferred conduits for communication on many fronts. The Marketing Technologies track continues the tradition of providing valuable insight and solutions to common issues and concerns for Marketing Departments across the country.
When did you first start coming to conference?
About 10 years ago, as a vendor.
Describe a highlight of one ILTA conference that made you a hero when you got back to your firm.
Many years ago I was introduced to a group that provided 3rd party solutions to the Elite product (Data Fusion). I was able to take that product to a client at the time and it solved a big issue the Firm was having. It helped to garner a level of trust that continued throughout the relationship.
Conference is a whirlwind of activity; can you share your strategy or any tips to making it through and getting the most out of it?
It is imperative that you review the conference sessions and calendar at least a week prior to arrival. There will be times when you want to attend two sessions taking place simultaneously, so understanding where your sessions are located and their timing will greatly improve your ability to migrate through the conference and optimize your time. Also, make time to attend the social functions. They are geared toward introducing you to people that you don’t already know. Networking is a powerful tool for resource gathering and ILTA takes great pride in bringing people from all areas of Law Firms together in a setting that promotes interaction!
What volunteer roles have you held for ILTA?
I spoke a few years ago in one of the sessions, and of course my TC role in 09.
What prompted you to get involved as a volunteer leader with ILTA?
I’ve always held the ILTA conference in high regard, both as a member and a vendor. When I was offered the opportunity to help “make a difference” it was impossible to turn down. If anyone ever has the opportunity to serve on Conference Committee, I can honestly say you will never find yourself in a group of people that are more highly motivated and intelligent!
