Today’s (quite creative!) Conference Committee Chat is with Eric Hunter, Project Manager at Bradford & Barthel, LLP, who is also the Track Chair for the IT Operations Track.
What excites you the most about ILTA ’09?
Watching the intricate planning throughout the last year; from concepts in discussion, to Excel, to PowerPoint… morph into actual live sessions filled with pre-planned spontaneity… Meeting all of the fantastic speakers I’ve only met by phone and hopefully ducking the occasional right cross thrown. Long fascinating talks with John Alber on any given topic…. and laughing with [other conference committee members] on any given topic…. Lifting weights, looking at trees, and finding an isolated piano to play out all of the knowledge taken in from the day. Braving the Vendor Hall…
Is there a specific session that you’re looking forward to? If so, why? (this doesn’t have to be in your track)
Business Strategy, Project Management, Enterprise 2.0, Open Source… so many sessions, so little time…. if only I could clone myself and attend more.
Please briefly tell us what we’ll experience in your track.
Top notch speakers from a variety of fields presenting on Data Center Centralization, Virtualization, Disaster Recovery, Managing IT Operations, Encryption, and SQL. CFOs, IT Directors, Developers… there’s something in this Track for each of you.
When did you first start coming to conference?
Last Year…
Describe a highlight of one ILTA conference that made you a hero when you got back to your firm.
I returned with a wealth of knowledge from Mike Lombardi that directly related to infrastructure projects we’ve lined up for 09′, 10′, 11′. Surviving the Wolf’s Lodge indoor water park… (ed. note: Wolf’s Lodge was an ILTA ’08 overflow hotel with a really lovely water park)
Conference is a whirlwind of activity; can you share your strategy or any tips to making it through and getting the most out of it?
Breathe…
What led you in the direction of working on Conference Committee?
I was wandering the infamously treacherous Vendor hall, lost, witless (as always), starry eyed, and close to despair. There, seated on her white horse in full armor wielding a glowing staff in the midst of the vast vendor wilderness sat Maureen. She introduced me to two friends, and bid me go forth and enjoy conference. Enjoy conference I did, with much knowledge and many a story to tell. Little did I know it was all a nefarious plot that ensnared me in the role I’m attempting to survive today…

Do you have a blog? If so, what’s the URL? What’s your Twitter handle?
My blog is still in its infancy, and I’m far too shy to share…
My Twitter handle is also useless, in that I don’t update it… I think I’m yearning for a debate where I’m convinced of it’s usefulness as a creative medium. If this were to successfully take place, I would certainly 180 into a highly prolific writer of questionable and objectionable content within the twitter realm… (ed. note: check out the social networking session at ILTA ’09–you just might find that debate!!)
