My love affair with ILTA has been going on for many years. Nine years ago, while working for a large Boston law firm, I joined an ILTA (then LawNet) listserv to find software to solve a technology problem I was having at the time. Well, I not only found the technology solution I was looking for, but gained much more than that from my association with ILTA since then over the years. It wasn’t long before Henry Chace recruited me to participate in ILTA by giving a couple of presentations (I actually just volunteered my technical skills, but you know Henry). My first trip to Conference in 2001 far exceeded my expectations for the information I would obtain, as well as the contacts I would make. It was less than two years after my first Conference that I would be recruited (again, by Henry) to be the iManage SIG Chair, now known as the Interwoven (oops, that’s changed again too – Autonomy iManage) Peer Group Vice President. My service as an ILTA officer was far more challenging, but most importantly rewarding, than I would have ever expected. It provided me the opportunity to help other ILTA members find the solutions to their technology problems.
I’ve now crossed over to the other side of the fence as a vendor (to the dark side as some would say) and am currently working with the stellar team at DocAuto, Inc. I still get to work with many of the folks in ILTA that I met along the way, albeit in a different capacity. The ILTA Conference provides me and my colleagues at DocAuto with a venue to collaborate with ILTA members about technology trends and firms’ needs. Our goal for the ILTA Conference is to spend quality time with members to listen to their issues and understand how we, as vendors, can serve them better through education about our various products which can address their business objectives.
My relationship with ILTA has brought me knowledge, friendship, and professional and personal growth. I find it fitting that I attended my first ILTA conference while working as an iManage administrator and will attend my eighth ILTA Conference with DocAuto, a company that provides comprehensive solutions to manage Autonomy iManage WorkSite environments. I’ve come full circle and can now provide technology solutions instead of searching for them. Thanks, ILTA!
