LAW6: Law Department Roundtable at 3:30 today is closed to vendors.

Recycle your unwanted materials! Both ILTA and ARIA are serious with our green initiatives. ARIA has teamed with the Teacher EXCHANGE Program, a re-use resource center for all Southern Nevada public school teachers. Rather than throwing away the unwanted materials that have accumulated during ILTA 2010, we can donate them to the Teacher EXCHANGE. The many items are needed and accepted include lanyards, notebooks, backpacks, etc. Turn in your unwanted materials in the bins at the registration desks today.

Events for Thursday, August 26:     
Jan McInnis presents today’s super session, Finding the Funny in Change, in the Pinyon Ballroom at 8:00 a.m.
Jan offers practical tips and lots of humor to give you the inside scoop on dealing with, and even embracing, change. You’ll learn what to do and what to avoid doing when change is upon you, as well as how to create and use humor to diffuse tension around change. This session promises plenty of learning and laughing.

Vendor Bingo cards should be turned in to the member or vendor registration desk by 10:30 a.m. this morning! The drawing for valuable prizes is scheduled at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday in the Exhibit Hall. You must be present to win!

Turn in your Trivia Game cards at lunch today. The drawing for the $500 prize will be held at dinner tonight. You must be present to win.

The Annual Meeting of the Corporation and our recognition of volunteer leadership is held today during lunch in the ILTA Bistro from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.

To close out the conference on this evening, we celebrate the winners in the inaugural presentation of ILTA’s Distinguished Peer Awards Dinner: Live from Las Vegas. While casual attire is the standard dress for any ILTA event, some may want to don their fancy garb for this ceremonial occasion. Following dinner, we have entertainment and will conclude the evening with dancing, hosted by a DJ, and quiet networking for people who want to visit with friends. It’s a great way to close out a great week.

Our Emerging Technologies Peer Group is piloting an application similar to Google maps, but for indoor spaces, called Micello. Micello is available for IPhone and Android, in the App Store and Android Market, respectively. While Micello is limited by poor geolocation coverage within the convention center, the interactive maps are useful and exciting. Using Micello, you can select a level of the convention center, drill down into maps within maps, and search vendors and rooms, including the exhibit hall and demo rooms. The best example of Micello’s interactive functionality is the View of the Bristlecone Ballroom. Open the “map-within-a-map” for the Bristlecone Ballroom, either search for a vendor or open the list of vendors (lower-right button), select a vendor and find that vendor as it is highlighted on the map.

Manny Medrano presents today’s super session, Conquering the Tough Times Ahead, in the Pinyon Ballroom at 8:00 a.m. In this tough economic environment, law firms and law departments have to work harder to overcome obstacles and coordinate their efforts to thrive. Fear and self doubt can set in. Manny will challenge you to conquer fear and uncertainty during these difficult times and inspire you to embark on your own journey to reach personal and professional goals.

The LEDES Oversight Committee Bi-Annual Members Meeting will be held this morning at 9:00 a.m. in Ironwood 8. It is followed at 11:00 a.m. by the LEDES-Uniform Task-Based Management Systems (UTBMS) Initiatives. See the Globe for details.

There is no planned event for this evening; you are on your own for dinner. Enjoy the great restaurants at ARIA or nearby, or have fun at the many vendor networking events that are planned.

We had a great time in the Exhibit Hall last night, and hope you did, too!  Many thanks to our exhibitors for their support of ILTA 2010, and I extend a special thanks to those who got into the spirit of our Las Vegas venue by decorating their booths and their people .

Congratulations to all who attended Monday morning’s Fun Run/Walk. The winners in the various categories are listed in today’s Globe.

Security alert: We’ve got a lot of people wandering around the conference center with no badges, so we don’t know if they belong with us. Starting this morning, security officers are located on the second level beside the business center, and they will stop anyone who does not have an ILTA badge. Those will be escorted by ILTA volunteers to wherever they need to go to get the badge they need – Members, Vendors, Volunteers, Speakers, Temp Staff. 

The Scavenger Hunt was published as ending last night.  We are extending the deadline to noon today. Turn your card into the member registration desk if you’d like to participate.

Wi-Fi Issues Are Resolved!
We are happy to report that as of 5:00 p.m. on Monday evening, the Wi-Fi woes that we’ve had with the service provider have been resolved. Any ARIA guest who purchased wireless in his/her room prior to today will be credited at checkout.

Events for Tuesday, August 24:     
Tom Koulopoulos presents The Cloud and Law2020: Where Megatrends and Vision Collide in the Pinyon Ballroom at 8:00 a.m. Tom will help us navigate the many dimensions of the cloud, from new models for client engagement to radically new models for teaming and employment. Tom will help us understand why the cloud will have an impact on nearly every aspect of our business and our lives, from how we work to how we play, making it the global megatrend of this century. His presentation is followed by an “Ask the Expert” session at 9:00.

The Exhibit Hall opens today! The grand opening is at 10:00 a.m. in the Bristlecone Ballroom. Enjoy a themed snack break, and members, get your Vendor Bingo cards stamped!

The Sharon Swartworth Leadership Seminar will be held today in Ironwood 3. The first session will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., and the second will follow from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

This evening’s networking event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Pinyon Ballroom. In addition to a great dining experience, Le Grand Cirque ILTA provides lots of opportunities for those quiet networking conversations as well as lots of games and dancing to our live band. And don’t forget the concluding raffle for great prizes.

There are 40 sessions that run between 10:30 and 5:00 p.m. Check out the multiple resources available for session content and take advantage of the diverse educational offerings.

Members should plan to attend their regional meetings at 5:15 p.m. We split up into regions to meet with our neighbors, discuss plans for the year ahead and get ideas for programs of interest to attendees, with a door prize as a bonus! Help your region win the prize for the highest percentage attendance of regional members at your regional meeting. Your regional identification is noted on your name tag. Meeting rooms for the various regions can be found in the Conference Journal, the Digital Program Guide or via the mobile app!
   
Tonight, Viva ILTA Vendors! takes center stage in the Exhibit Hall (Bristlecone Ballroom). The doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the hall will be transformed into an “old style” Vegas lounge for our exhibitors and their products. Members will stroll from one club or lounge act to the next and make stops at exhibitor booths while enjoying local food and drink. Don’t miss the fun and camaraderie!

Our ILTA 2010 Trivia Game: Chat It Up! provides an opportunity for our members to connect with ILTA’s volunteer leaders, speakers, etc., as the game clues have you looking at name tags and searching for information on ILTA’s website. It’s a great way to increase your peer network and have a chance at the $500 prize to be awarded on Thursday evening (you must be present to win). Pick up your game card at the member registration desk on property.

ILTA members can meet from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. in our “Communities of Interest.”  With ten topics providing the backdrop for this networking opportunity, it’s a great way to start ILTA 2010 and gain even more value from your overall experience. Check your Conference Journal (obtained at check in) for meeting rooms and topic areas.      

The Speaker Meet and Greet will take place from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Juniper 4 for a brief orientation and networking.

The Conference Orientation for ILTA members will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Juniper 1. Navigating conference and maximizing the value of your attendance can be daunting no matter how many times you’ve attended. Let us give you some tips and tricks to make the most of your conference experience — and another great opportunity to meet your peers! 
   
The Opening Reception, Opening Act: ILTA 2010 runs from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This traditional kickoff to our conference week will give members and vendors a chance to enjoy connecting informally with ILTA friends. Join ILTA’s Officers and Conference Committee as they welcome members and vendors old and new to the conference. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and liquid refreshments in the foyer areas on all three levels of the conference center. There will be lively entertainment as well as the opportunity for quiet conversation.

The registration desks are open till 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening and open at 6:00 a.m. on Monday.

State of the Art Demo Track

Spanning all four days, a full track of sessions provides a forum for vendors to demo their state of the art products and services. This track is located in Starvine 11 Monday through Wednesday and Starvine 8 on Thursday in the conference center.  For a list of featured vendors, see the Conference Overview, and for session descriptions and speakers see the Detailed Session Agenda. The information is also available in the Digital Program Guide and via our mobile app.

Its primary advantage is that it allows you to have access to these resources at any time from a web browser. Additionally, you can view a more traditional PDF of the session details and print those pages that are required for your planning. Outside of these “print-like” formats, the Plan Your Week tool from the conference site allows you to create a custom itinerary online.
 
Take some time to map out your session strategy before you arrive at conference, and help us “go green” by using the online tools and/or the new mobile app. With the introduction of our new mobile app this year, paper becomes even less a necessity.

If you rely on paper documentation, it’s best to print your information before you arrive, though we do provide print stations so that you can take advantage of the various ways to print content once you’re on property. It’s best to plan ahead and map our your strategy, as we know there are multiple sessions in each time slot that will vie for your attention.
